center, and more. Duke Nursing Highlights: -
Duke Cancer Center Clinic 3-24 days/week, (3 in-person, one
remote)
10 hours/day (7:30 am-6:00 pm)
No weekends or holidays -The RN Coordinator is a professional RN
with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized
assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome
healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, a Nurse
Coordinator provides education and resources to facilitate informed
decision making and timely access to quality health and
psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer
continuum.
The RN Coordinator is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient
care team, which includes providers, residents, fellows and other
clinical support staff and provides clinical support to patients
and caregivers, such as comprehensive assessment, general and
focused education, and decision-making support. The RN Coordinator
has the skills and knowledge to coordinate quality,
patient-centered care through effective communication with the
interprofessional cancer care team. -Work Performed: -
--- - - -Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including
physicians, APP's, Clinic staff, nurse triage, schedulers, and
other support services as needed for care, education, and follow up
for patient and caregiver.
--- - - -Pre-surgical teaching and post op follow up. -
--- - - -Coordination of Ostomy and wound teaching with wound care
APP's.
--- - - -Route return appt requests in clinic to front desk as
directed by MD/APP
--- - - -Check through clinic visits and ensure all patients have
appropriate orders
--- - - -Coordinate outside labs/scans with community providers
--- - - -Symptom management as needed. -
--- - - -Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled appropriately
as requested -
--- - - -Assist with prior authorizations, as needed
--- - - -Coordination of Home Health Services and Medical supplies
as needed
--- - - -Triage and management of RN appropriate Patient Messages
sent through the EMR patient portal
--- - - -Assist with insurance/family medical leave paperwork -
--- - - -Coordinate surgery/admission schedules -
--- - - -Symptom management -
--- - - -Triage of patients (calling patients back for issues that
don't need direct APP/MD response)
--- - - -Assist with medication refills requests
--- - - -Calling patients with negative or normal test results as
directed by the APP/MD

-EducationWork requires graduation from an accredited BSN program.
Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April
11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are
encouraged to enroll in an appropriateBSN program within two years
of their start date but must complete the program within five years
of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014
are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job
classification. -Experience -Twelve months of appropriate clinical
experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6
months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible
for this level. CN Is are eligible for promotion to CN II by
meeting criteria set forth by the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency
Program within 12 months of hire. Promotions can occur at 12 months
of hire, but no later than 18 months of hire. -Degrees, Licensures,
Certifications -Must have current or compact RN licensure in the
